Why the real estate agent take %6 commission when selling a house? Who gets the money? Does it cover some the expenses of the closing the transaction?
The seller's agent help with suggestions for better presentation of the house, finding the listing price, putting pictures in MLS, having open house, negotiating the terms with the buyer's agent, and preparing closing documents. But why always the cost ogf this service is %3 of the property price?!
I talked with the Century 21 specialist about the commission etiquette. Their contact number is 1-800-293-1657
The agent said that the commission is usually negotiable. It depends on the service that one get from the agent. The range of commission is %5-7 (seller and buyer agents combined). The commission excludes the closing cost, escrow, title and all the other expenses. Other expenses of selling a house can be in the range of %1-2.
Some of the new properties pay %5-10 commission for customers!
